End user apps let you create custom apps or use any 3rd party app from the Freshworks Marketplace and integrate them with Freshdesk customer portals. Customers can view/edit or access information that is relevant to them without going through multiple steps.

Freshworks developers can now build apps for end-user customers too. Register for the community hours and get a hands-on experience of building an End-User App.
We have also launched the EAP program for End-User Apps and you can now build apps for customer-facing portals in Freshdesk.
Q&A
Q1: What version of fdk we need in order to develop end user apps? Also regarding the EAP for end user apps, any time frame to get your request approved ?
A1: FDK version 7.5.0 and above supports it.
Q2: Will there be a “showModal” like agent end app to open a bigger screen?
A2: It is not available now. We can consider it in the upcoming days and make it available based on requests.
Q3: Is there any learning video portal available?
A3: You can please refer the documentation. Freshworks Developer Docs | Freshworks app ecosystem. No video material is available. This session is pretty much enough to get started. We will share the recording.
Q4: In future, does the client needs to update their account to get this feature?
A4: The support for end user apps will be available if you have the Portal 2.0 enabled in your account. We can also enable it for you on demand. This should work on all Estate/ Pro/ Forest and Enterprise plans by default.
Q5: Can we use react?
A5: We are rethinking how we can allow react framework for the developers to build their apps faster. At the moment, we are yet to completely test react for fdk in end user apps. You can expect the current experience for agents would be lot similar end user apps as well.
Q6: Can we access marketplace app in Freshservice app?
A6: End-user apps are only available for Freshdesk today. All other app types can be built for Freshservice.
Q7: Documentation shows more promise chaining but more and more of the code I see in tutorials are using Async/Await, will the documentation reflect this?
A7: We are working on an new docs tool that will allow us to make changes quickly. As part of bringing that in, we will revisit and update the docs. So, new docs portal + updated code will come together.
Q8: Can we use react on user end app?
A8: Not natively supported, Samuel. You can insert the bundled app code and it will work as Agent apps.
Q9: I have created an custom app in Freshservice, how could I get access to same custom app in Freshservice android application?
A9: Apps are not yet supported within the Android/iOS app.
Q10: Any estimates on when we can use the End-User Apps in other products?
A10: There are similar use-cases in many products, and we are currently prioritizing the same with Freshchat first. We don’t have an ETA yet. Do let us know if you have use-cases already!
Q11: How to use react in Freshsales?
A11: You can use React to build apps on Freshworks but we are working on creating a much better experience that is seamless and enjoyable on our FDK.
Q12: In our end user app can we write unit test cases also?
A12: No, unit tests are not available for frontend apps.
