External Events - return custom response

Hey all,
I’ve been trying (without success) to have onExternalEventHandler return custom data rather than the default response:

}

I noticed this has already been discussed in a few threads and was at some point being investigated as possible enhancement in this thread.

I was just wondering if anything ever came of it or if the request was dropped entirely?

Thank you for your query. However, I must regretfully inform you that our current external event implementation operates asynchronously, and as a result, we do not possess the capability of returning custom data at this time.
